BECOMING AN AUTHOR

You want to write or you love to write but that doesn't make you an author. So what is it that takes to become an author? Let's look at a few points which have been shared by our panel of authors which has given them a niche above the others.

working

The creative world is disorderly and chaotic but to manage this chaos it is important that your life outside isn't in chaos. To focus on your creations it is important that you live a life, keep your head clear. So you would need to initially have a day job so that you don't keep worrying about your bills while you write.

Writing Everyday

They say you aren't a writer if you don't write every day. If you aspire to become an author start writing every day not as a hobby but as a serious job like you would be doing under an employer. Start with investing a small time then gradually increase your writing time.

successful writing

When you plan to write whatever it may be a mystery story, a historical romance novel, a sci-fi short story it is essential to do some research on it. Research always helps to improve your writing. You should not only read and research others in the requisite genre but also come back to your own notes because when you come back you might look at it with a different perspective.

health

It is essential to have good physical health to have a healthy mind and vice versa. How can you write when you are in pain? So it is essential you take breaks, go for a walk or run in between and not sit long hours on the table writing. A walk in nature will not only keep you healthy but also freshen your mind and bless you with fresh ideas.

distractions

There no writing like writing in peace, silence and without outside distractions. If a distraction like a phone call or a message doesn't irk you while you write then you might not come back to it. It is important to write with a calm mind without distractions because if something else holds your attention more than your writing how will it hold your readers' attention?

inspiration

Inspiration doesn't fall like snow from a winter sky. It might come unexpectedly from unimaginable places or it might not come at all. So what do you do? Always have something handy where you could jot down the idea when it hits you out of nowhere. So that, when there's nothing coming to you and writer's block seems to hit you can use these unexpected encounters with inspiration.

One doesn't become a famous author overnight. You need to continuously work your writing skills, and to improve and improvise these 6 habits are indispensable.
